Gentile Bucatini is crafted in Gragnano, Campania, the legendary Italian pasta town where Pastificio Gentile has roots dating to 1876. Protected as Pasta di Gragnano IGP, it reflects a centuries-old local tradition in which pasta quality is closely tied to place and production method. Bucatini takes its name from buco, meaning “hole”: the long strands resemble thick spaghetti but contain a narrow hollow center, giving them a substantial bite and allowing sauce to coat the pasta inside and out. Gentile uses bronze dies to create a textured surface and follows its traditional Metodo Cirillo, a gentle drying method designed to preserve the character of the semolina. Bucatini is the iconic partner for all’Amatriciana, but its sturdy structure is equally delicious with carbonara, cacio e pepe, anchovies, rich tomato sauces, or other bold preparations.
