Gentile Trecce is a beautifully sculptural Pasta di Gragnano IGP whose name means “braids” in Italian. Its intertwined form creates numerous curves, ridges, and crevices where sauces and small ingredients can settle, making the shape as functional as it is visually striking. Trecce is produced in Gragnano, Campania, by Pastificio Gentile, whose pasta-making heritage reaches back to 1876. Gentile uses bronze dies for a textured exterior and follows its traditional Metodo Cirillo for gentle drying, while the protected IGP designation connects production to Gragnano’s centuries-old pasta culture. Pair Trecce with pesto, sausage and broccoli rabe, mushrooms, roasted vegetables, tomato and ricotta, or creamy cheese sauces. Its sturdy braided structure also holds up beautifully in baked pasta and substantial pasta salads. A wonderful choice when you want an unusual shape without sacrificing versatility.
